Insurers are in a position to guide you on the market value of your car. This value guide is commissioned by the Malta Insurance Association and updated at least once a year. Should you disagree with the value suggested by us, you are at liberty to contact an independent motor surveyor. Use the following link to check your current market value http://www.maltainsurance.org/pages/miaPBInfo.asp?m=561.
Unless you opt to restrict drivers to benefit from a discount, a policy is generally issued to cover authorized licensed drivers aged between 25 and 70.
You may opt to restrict drivers to One named driver or 2 specified drivers and obtain a discount in return. Drivers aged under 25 must also be specifically declared and a substantially higher premium will be requested.
Notwithstanding the driver option chosen the insurance will automatically cover drivers who are in the motor trade and hold your vehicle under their custody (Such as your mechanic).
Most insurance claims are subject to an excess. An excess is the first amount payable by the Insured to open a claim. Generally the excess is € 58.23, but € 58.23 in the event of fire and € 232.94 in respect of theft or theft damages.
The excess may vary on certain vehicles and when drivers under 25 years of age are involved.
Policy excess when opening a claim in respect of third party damages has been reduced to ZERO where drivers are any over 21 years
